The Pretenders Song of the Week (3/8/99): Back on the Chain Gang
Artist: The Pretenders | Year Released: 1982

Obviously a fan-fave, since it was hand-picked by you guys. This also happens to be my boyfriend's favorite Pretenders tune (he applauded you by the way). Wonderful woos and ahs. And this song can be found on many albums as well. It originally appeared on Learning to Crawl the live acoustic version is found on The Isle of View and of course on their greatest hits, The Singles. If, however, you're more interested in the song than the band, the song also shows up on two different compilation CDs: Only Dance: 1980-1984 and Classic MTV: Class of 1983. Enjoy the song!
The B-52's Song of the Week (3/1/99): The Deadbeat Club
Artist: The B-52's | Year Released: 1989

Cosmic Thing was one of the first albums I've ever gotten [before this I recorded songs off the radio], and recently I've updated my B-52's collection by buying the CD of this album. Still my favorite B-52's album, this happens to be my favorite song as well. Enough about me! If you liked this song, perhaps the best buy would be Time Capsule, their greatest hits. However, Cosmic Thing is, as I've mentioned only so many times, a great album as well. Visit their official website at www.theb52s.com.
Cyndi Lauper Song of the Week (2/22/99): Goonies R Good Enough
Artist: Cyndi Lauper | Year Released: 1985

Though I was virtually raised in the movie theaters, it wasn't until the Goonies that I became entranced with the medium. Much as I am embarassed to admit that nowadays, I still love the theme song if not the movie. Unfortunately, the soundtrack and the single of this song is out of print. I stumbled upon it in a Used-CD store and suggest you try your luck. Or, it seems that Ebay often holds auctions on this particular album. Also check out www.cyndilauper.com for great information.

Thomas Dolby First-Ever Song of the Week (2/15/99): Europa and the Pirate Twins
Artist: Thomas Dolby | Year Released: 1981
View the Lyrics
Not the most popular Dolby song ("She Blinded Me with Science"), but this one has a moving tale and melody that's worth hearing. If you liked this song, the best buy is Retrospectacle, the greatest hits album. However, if you're partial to the art of the album, the song originally appeared on Golden Age of Wireless. If you disliked this song, complain to Marita and make a request while you're at it. Visit Thomas Dolby's Official Site for more sound samples (in formats other than Real Player).
